My Current Makeup Routine

My makeup routine is pretty simple in general and especially now that we are in quarantine mode. I generally wear makeup everyday, but stopped for a while when the quarantine started. Now, I find I have done all I need to do around my house and have too much times on my hands. Makeup also makes me feel so put together and even if I am just around my aparment complex, it makes me feel more confident. I know there are some girls who don’t believe in wearing makeup and that is totally fine and justified! I just happen to feel more like myself when I have it on. Best part, it only take 5 minutes!

Face

Nars Primer: I have recently switched my primer from the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer to the Nars Radiance Primer. So far I am really like it and it goes on smoothly with no greasy feel. I find so much comfort in knowing I am adding an extra layer between my skin and my foundation. I apply this all over my face and neck by putting a little on my hands and putting it all over my face just like you would foundation. No brush or sponges are needed.

CT Highlighter: I love this product! It is super versatile and adds a little extra glow under your foundation. I put a little swipe down my nose and on my cheek bones. I blend this in using a damp beauty blender. You can see the glow on your skin right away!

Nars Foundation: I have forever used two different foundations (Estee Lauder Double Wear and the Georgio Armani Luminous Silk). But, when I went home to Chicago in February, I went to my favorite makeup place – BlueMercury. I told the woman who was helping me that I wanted good overall coverage that would last all day but not look caked on and let my skin breathe. She suggested the Nars Natural Radiant Longerwear Foundation. She matched a color to my skin and I feel in love SO fast! I even sent my best friend, Lauren, one of those annoying selfies showing off why new foundation! I am so in love with it. It has become my new go to. It is complete coverage with a very natural look. I apply it using the same damp Beauty Blender I used for the highlighter.

Tarte Concealer: I am using the Tarte Shape Tape canceler right now. It last pretty well throughout the day! I am partly to blame due to Denver having such dry weather, I find I itch my eyes rather regularly causing it to wear down. It does last forever and a little bit goes a long way! I use a slightly lighter shade than my foundation to create a little glow. Also used to apply with a damp Beauty Blender.

CT Setting Powder: I use Charlotte Tilbury’s setting powder under my eyes to try and help keep it set during the length of the day. The concealer and the setting powder together definitely makes it last longer! I use a different damp Beauty Blender than the one I used for the liquid products.

Nars Bronzer: The last part of my face is the bronzer. Right now, I am using a self tanner 1) because I love how it looks 2) I am so pale naturally I barely tan anyway. Since I use the tanner, and not on my face, it is important that when I got out in the real world, that my face/neck/body all match. I have forever used the Nars bronzer. It goes on well without turning me too dark.

YSL Setting Spray: Second to last part of the process! I purchased this setting spray at Nordstrom a while back and have been hooked. It adds a little extra moisture I need in Denver’s dry climate and adds a dewy finish.

Eyes and Eyebrows

YSL Eyebrow Pencil: My eyebrows are super simple because they are my least favorite part for some reason! I normally get my eyebrows waxed and haven’t yet pulled the trigger to try the eyebrow tint. But I am getting close to giving it a go! I am now just touching up my eyebrows at home as need be. I use the YSL Couture Brow Slim Eyebrow Pencil. I use the end brush to smooth it all out and then take the pencil and fill where need be.

Trish McEvoy Eyebrow Wax: I used to use Eyebrow gel to set my eyebrows, but I switched to this little wax stick by Trish McEvoy. I love it so much and was definitely skeptical at first of using wax. The gel always felt a little crusty on my eyebrows for a lack of a better word haha.

Gucci Mascara: I curl my eyelashes really quick and apply two coast so the new Gucci mascara. I bought it a little over a week ago and am LOVING it. The packaging is gorgeous and it gives your lashes a long, natural look, especially for everyday.

Polish it off with a swipe of lip gloss or lipstick and you are good to go!

Welcome!

Welcome to Haute 2 Trot. My name is Sophia! I’m a twenty-something living in Denver, CO with my pup, Duma. Haute 2 Trot was started at the beginning of 2020 after following other fashion blogs for years. Fashion has always been a passion of mine and I wanted a way to express this love with other like minded people. My blog will explore not only my love of fashion, but my interests in makeup, and a little bit of my day-to-day life. I want Haute 2 Trot to offer fun, feminine finds to everyone!
